Wedding cocktail hour: the Italian food experience
The Italian way to serve food & drinks when the reception starts.
Whether you chose a sophisticated venue or a more informal one for your wedding reception, the banqueting company will set up a separated area for the wedding cocktail hour, preferably outside if the weather is good.
The Italian way is called “Aperitivo”: let’s talk about one of the most delicious food tradition you could experience!
The wedding cocktail hour is typically scheduled between the ceremony and the dinner: it is a very relaxing time to be spent grabbing some drinks and tasting bites of good food, discovering the venue and taking pictures with good music in the background.
Do you know a better way to start a party?
What do Italians serve during the wedding cocktail hour?
A selection of cocktails, soft drinks, juices and the famous Prosecco are usually served at the Aperitivo: generally a bartender is in charge of preparing the drinks for the guests in a special corner set up with all he needs, so that every guest could choose his favourite cocktail. In some cases, especially when the quality of service is high, you will see waiters walking around the area serving pre-poured glasses of wine or Prosecco.
When it comes to food, most of all appetizers are displayed on long buffet tables, finely decorated according to the wedding mood. For several seasons now, it is commonly used to set different themed food stations with all Italian specialities like cold cuts with different kind of bread or focaccia, cheese like Mozzarella and Parmigiano, vegetables, fried and local dishes.
This is a very fun option which allows the guests to fill their cocktail plates with the mix of appetizers they want, letting them taste different bites of food.
In addition to this, as said for drinks, finger food can be served through trays by the caterer staff: in this case, the chef could prepare more creative appetizers, filling small glasses with seasoned food like rice or pasta or cooking tartlets or little vegetable rolls. So many options!
You just have to enjoy the Italian food experience of the wedding cocktail with family and friends getting the party started!
