Real Wedding: Ilenia & Andrea, tied forever

At the end of September, I had the pleasure of celebrating Ilenia and Andrea’s wedding in a beautiful farmhouse in the Piacenza countryside with a symbolic ceremony.

Here what happened that day.

Marriage is a bond forever. And what if, to reinforce the concept, you choose to insert a ritual during the symbolic ceremony that emphasizes its importance? What Ilenia and Andrea chose to do, a couple who got married towards the end of September at Cascina La Secca, one of the largest farmhouses in the province of Piacenza.

I had the pleasure and honor of celebrating this union, which was organized by my colleague wedding planner Chiara Gabrielli. A very close-knit couple, who opened up completely, telling their story in detail: how they met, how much they love each other, what they share (for example, the passion for travel) … All details that have contributed to build a marriage that really speaks to them.

Now I’ll tell you about Ilenia and Andrea’s wedding, between colored ribbons, rain and magic.

A truly exciting ceremony, also because the couple decided to add at the end the Celtic rite called Handfasting, during which the hands of the couple are tied together with colored ribbons to symbolize eternal union and mutual spiritual commitment. For the occasion, Ilenia and Andrea have chosen ribbons of different colors, each with its own meaning: red: passion, love; blue – fidelity, longevity; purple – spiritual strength, power, health; white: purity, serenity, peace, truth.

A solemn moment, also underlined by the words I have chosen to recite for them: “By binding your bodies together we have bound your souls; from now on your lives will be united forever”.

The same colors were used as the fil rouge of the setting: Ilenia’s bouquet had roses, carnations and narcissus in shades of white, pink and indigo among the corollas; Andrea’s dress was electric blue and the path leading to the yes place was strewn with rose petals in all shades of pink.

An intense day, marred only by a light rain, which forced us to fall back on plan B, celebrating the ceremony under the porch of the farmhouse. An unexpected event which, however, certainly did not spoil the moment, but which on the contrary added even more magic.
