Lake Como towns that worth visiting around the lake

Lake Como is one of the places of greatest interest and beauty in Italy: here are the villages to visit during your stay.

I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and if you have decided to get married in Italy, opting for a destination wedding, then I recommend the Lake Como area. Have you ever heard of it? Certainly yes.

Scenario of one of the immortal novels of Italian literature – “The Betrothed” by Alessandro Manzoni – Lake Como has the characteristic inverted Y shape. Located in Lombardy, on the border with Switzerland, it is considered a luxury tourist area, with enchanting villas, overlooking the water, and small charming towns, all to be discovered.

It is to these little jewels that I want to dedicate this first post, in order to discover the wonders that Italy offers. When you come to Italy to get married, you will also be able to spend time, together with your guests, as tourists: I will take care of your trips and transfers, wherever you want to go. And these villages, around Lake Como, believe in me… you just can’t miss them!

Lake Como towns are one more beautiful than the other: if you decide to get married here, extend your stay to visit them. Here are the most enchanting ones.

Cernobbio

A few km away from Como, there is Cernobbio, a small village, reachable on foot from Como in a half an hour lakefront walk. You can’t miss a visit to Villa d’Este, a 16th century residence, today a luxury hotel, and to Villa Erba, which hosted the director Luchino Visconti in the 20th century.

Bellagio

Bellagio, one of the most famous Lake Como towns in the world,  is a charming village, above all because it is located where the three branches of Lake Como meet. Characterized by its colorful houses, from here, with a small boat cruise, you can reach Como.

Laglio

Lake Como has always had a particular appeal to Hollywood stars. In Laglio, indeed, in 2002 the actor George Clooney bought Villa Oleandra, a historic residence not visible from the road, but only from the lake. Take a speedboat ride just to admire it and try to see if George is at home…

Argegno

Argegno has all the charm of medieval villages. From here, I recommend you to take the cableway to reach the Pigra plain and enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake from there.

Brunate

Brunate can only be reached by funicular from Como, and this experience alone is trip worthing. Once in town, you will be delighted by the beauty of the liberty style villas, characteristic of the village.

Bellano

Nature lovers, you cannot miss Bellano with its orrido, a natural gorge, carved into the rocky walls by the creek Pioverna, which can be visited thanks to suspended walkways that will allow you to see at the closest the canyon with its waterfalls.

Varenna

Varenna is not to be missed for two reasons: its colorful houses, great as scenario for your pics, and the Walk of Lovers, suspended over the water, thanks to a walkway that runs along the promontory. To do hand in hand, admiring the breathtaking landscape!

Lenno

Lenno is famous all over the world for one reason mainly: here they shot the wedding scenes between Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala on planet Naboo in the movie “Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (Episode II)”. If you also want a Jedi-themed wedding, Villa del Balbianello, now owned by the FAI, can be rented for the occasion.

Tremezzo

Tremezzo is popular as a tourist destination, as it offers one of the most beautiful views of the lake and on the Comacina Island, the only one on Lake Como.
